How To Deal With Exam Tension

A little stress can be a good thing: it can be the motivational push that we need to get things done. However, sometimes, dealing with stress (especially during exam season) can be a difficult thing to do. And, with an estimated 20-50% annual increase of university students seeking help for studies-related mental health issues, it's clear that we're under more pressure than ever before. So, here to your rescue are five tips to help you through the stressful exam period.

(1) BE FLEXIBLE.

While having a revision time table is one of the best tools in your arsenal for exam success, don't be too hard on yourself if you don't stick to it. if you accidentally oversleep, don't write the day off. Get up with a fresh mind.

(2) USE THE 5 P's OF SUCCESS.

Proper preparation prevents poor performance. This rule reduces and eliminates exam anxiety. Prepare well for exams, practice past questions, relax and read topics you feel nervous about.

(3) AVOID LAST MINUTE CRAMMING.

Cramming in information at the last minute might do more harm than good. Review your notes a night before the exam. This will leave information fresh in your head.

(4) KEEP YOUR MIND AND BODY HEALTHY.

Ensure you get enough sleep, wake up early on the exam day and eat good food. Try to avoid heavy food.

(5) SPEAK TO SOMEONE OR VISIT THE UNIVERSITY'S COUNSELLING UNIT.

If the stress gets to a point where it is overwhelming and is affecting your day to day life, try and speak to someone about it or visit the university's guidance and counseling unit to seek advice.

I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE AND PLEASE SHARE YOUR OPINION IN THE COMMENT BOX BELOW!!!
